The Choice

GIVEAWAY

FISHER, SUZANNE WOODS
THE CHOICE

One moment Carrie Weaver was looking forward to running away with Lancaster Barnstormers pitcher Solomon Riehl -- plans that included leaving the Amish community where they grew up. The next moment she was staring into a future as broken as her heart. Now, Carrie is faced with a choice. But will this opportunity be all she hoped? Or will the decision, this moment in time, change her life forever?

A tender story of love, forgiveness, and looking below the surface, The Choice uncovers the sweet simplicity of the Amish world -- and shows that it's never too late to find your way back to God.

My Review:

I missed the Lancaster County Secrets series first time round so I'm catching up now. This one is so full of the unexpected that I don't quite no where to begin. Aptly entitled, The Choice, this story carries through all the ramifications a single choice can make. And I was completely captivated by the chain reaction of events that followed. I can't say too much because there are so many surprising twists and turns in the plot and I don't want to post any spoilers. As always though, I love this author's characters and the Amish communities she creates. And this one is chockfull of secrets --  and not just Carrie's -- that will take readers on a fascinating journey of discovery.

GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY:

If you would like an opportunity to win a copy of The Choice please leave a comment below or email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca. If you post a comment and add your email address, please use AT and DOT instead of @ and . in the address to protect yourself from spammers. If you enter the draw via email remember to put the title in the subject line so that it's easy for me to spot your entry. Draw will be held and winner announced on Sunday January 1 2017. Offer open to international readers. Good luck!

Rodeo Reunion

GIVEAWAY

VANNATTER, SHANNON TAYLOR
RODEO REUNION

Raquel Marris needs a man who'll stay put...

And Slade Walker's not a likely candidate. Even if the former major league pitcher just agreed to coach her son's little league team. The single mom can't risk everything on a bronc-riding chaplain who's only passing through Raquel's small Texas town.

Slade is taking a hiatus from the rodeo circuit to meet the sister he never knew he had. But the pretty widowed nurse next door is making him think twice about hitting the road again. He can't turn his back on the cowboys who need him, but Raquel and her boy need him too. Can Slade fulfill his calling and finally find a place to hang his hat?

My Review:

I've heard the term 'cowboy church' before and really enjoyed learning more about this type of ministry through this novel. It sounds like my kind of church (and not just because cowboys attend!) Though I wouldn't complain if Slade turned out to be my pastor. :-)

Rodeo Reunion has all the makings of a classic romance. Dreamy hero with a heart of gold who is struggling to figure out his future. Hometown heroine who is determined to keep a certain cowboy at a distance. A few misconceptions that send the heroine's brother (Brant from Rodeo Family) into protective overdrive which was so fun to watch play out.

A wonderful mix of love, laughter and faith.

GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY:
Available in ebook format only

If you would like an opportunity to win an ebook copy of Rodeo Reunion please leave a comment below or email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca. The Promise of Rayne

GIVEAWAY

DEESE, NICOLE
THE PROMISE OF RAYNE

One forbidden spark will burn loyalties to the ground and ignite a love that won't be contained

Rayne Shelby has spent her entire life trying to earn the approval of her high-powered family, with the hope of one day managing her late grandfather's prestigious Idaho lodge. But when she makes a mistake that puts her future in jeopardy, she faces an impossible choice: defy her family or deny her dream. The only way to fix the mess she's created is to enlist the help of her neighbor, Levi, the apprentice of her family's greatest enemy. And if Rayne gets caught crossing the divided property lines, the consequences will be irreparable.

Levi Harding has never forgotten the August night he shared with Rayne when they were teens -- or the way she later rejected him. Despite his warring instincts, he can't ignore her plea for help or the spark that's ignited between them. But now, as wildfires bear down on their town and family secrets are revealed, their newfound alliance might just go up in smoke.

My Review:

Mercy -- I was so engrossed in this novel that I barely took time to breathe. Toe-curling romance, tummy-tied-in-knots angst, soul-stirring inspiration. The best way to enjoy this story is to totally immerse yourself in it...and don't come up for air until you reach the end!

Rayne captured my heart from the get go even though I wanted to shake some sense into her more than once. But she's a product of her upbringing and, like all of us, her views and opinions have been formed by her family, skewed though they may be. And if that isn't enough, her sense of self-worth relies heavily on what certain family members think about her. And it just seems like she can't do anything right.

Then there's Levi. Free-spirited, hard working and dashingly attractive. He's full of life and laughter and determination. And while he nurses some resentment towards Rayne for rejecting him in the past, there's no denying that she intrigues him in the present. And, oh goodness, does it get complicated! The romantic tension between these two is exquisite. A five fan alert to cope with all that delicious emotional overload.

Deese expertly does a slow-reveal of a past shrouded in mystery. I couldn't read fast enough to get all the facts! Family legacy is at the heart of this story -- how our actions shape the next generation's future. Whether that legacy is formed out of bitterness or forgiveness makes all the difference to the future. Sobering and inspiring.

A deeply satisfying  novel that digs deep. Simply stunning.

If you would like an opportunity to win a copy of  The Promise of Rayne please leave a comment below or email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca. Where Two Hearts Meet

GIVEAWAY

JOHNSON, LIZ
WHERE TWO HEARTS MEET

In her kitchen at Rose's Red Door Inn, executive chef Caden Holt is calm, collected and competent. But when her boss asks her to show off their beautiful island to impress a visiting travel writer and save the inn, Caden is forced to face a world much bigger than her kitchen - and a man who makes her wish she was beautiful.

Journalist Adam Jacobs is forced is on a forced sabbatical on Prince Edward Island. He's also on assignment to uncover a story. Instead he's falling in  love with the island's red shore and Caden's sweets.

When Caden discovers Adam isn't who she thought he was, she realizes that the article he's writing could do more than ruin the inn's chance for survival -- it might almost break her heart.

My Review:

Be still my Anne-girl lovin' heart -- we're back on Prince Edward Island and at the Red Door Inn! Ever since I read book one in the Prince Edward Island Dreams I've been anticipating the release of this one. You don't need to read The Red Door Inn before diving into this but it's so awesomely good I don't see why you wouldn't. :-)

I think what stands out the most for me is Caden's vulnerability. A talented chef, she pours her heart into every culinary creation. Hard to imagine that she's actually hiding a load of insecurities that stem from an awkward childhood and adolescence in a small town.  And most of her friends and neighbours have a tendency to pigeon-hole her as gauche, frumpy and easily-overlooked. They made my blood boil!

Cue the handsome, mysterious and attractively rumpled Adam. He sees Caden with fresh eyes and there are so many jumping-out-of-your-skin nervy scenes where Caden can't believe Adam might be interested. Her self-talk is hysterical and poignant all at the same time. I tell you my tummy was in knots on her behalf the whole read.

Johnson has created a host of secondary characters that enrich the story. So many layers and parallels -- very true to life. But tensions rise as complications ensue and I was on tenterhooks to the very end. And sweet bliss, there's still book three's summer 2017 release to anticipate. I can hardly wait.

GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY:

If you would like an opportunity to win a copy of Where Two Hearts Meet please leave a comment below or email me at kavluvstoreadATyahooDOTca. If you post a comment and add your email addres, please use AT and DOT instead of @ and . in the address to protect yourself from spammers. If you enter the draw via email  please remember to put the title in the subject line so that it's easy for me to spot your entry. Draw will be held and winner announced on Sunday January 1 2017. Seven Brides for Seven Texans

GIVEAWAY

VETSCH, ERICA
BARRATT, AMANDA
DAVES, SUSAN PAGE
GWYN, KELI
MCDONOUGH, VICKI
MEYER, GABRIELLE
SEILSTAD, LORNA
SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN TEXANS

Time is running out to find love...

George Washington Hart is tired of waiting for his seven grown sons to marry, and now he may not live long enough to see grandchildren born. So he sets an ultimatum for each son to marry before the end of 1874 or be written out of his will to inherit a portion of his extensive Texas ranch. But can love form on a deadline?

Each of the Hart brothers -- Austin, Bowie, Travis, Houston, Crockett, Chisholm, and Hays -- attempts to fulfill his father's wishes in his own stubborn way. Adventures await these handsome bachelors, but will each quest lead to true love?

My Review:

One of the most enjoyable novella collections I have ever read. Each story compliments the others and there's a great flow between them all. And I loved the prologue and epilogue which neatly bookends the collection of stories. And the play on the movie, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is so much fun. Only here we have cowboys on a matrimonial deadline -- let the games begin!

First Comes Love by Gabrielle Meyer : There's something about a brash, determined cowboy with marriage on his mind. Thud. Hays is smooth, friendly and all too popular with the ladies. But he's sincere and kind and falling hard for Emma. She has marriage on the mind too --- how to avoid it. These two clash from the get-go and this light-hearted romance kept me smiling right to the end.

The Heart of Texas by Lorna Seilstad :  I do so love a lawman with dimples. Swoon. And Chisholm has an easy-going nature and plenty of reasons to flash those dimples -- especially in Caro's direction. But she's too busy plotting against him to notice...much. The more put out Caro acts, the more Chisholm is amused. Love me some laughter with my romance. And a bit of suspense gives this story an extra kick.

The Truest Heart by Amanda Barratt : A moving starry celebrating the joy of second chances. Annie is burdened by a guilt she doesn't need to carry and it's Travis who gently reminds her that God doesn't bestow blessings because we deserve them but rather, because He chooses to bless us through His love. A truly uplifting inspirational romance.

A Love Returned by Keli Gwyn : The importance of commitment to family shines through in this touching historical romance. A miscommunication in their youth pulled Houston and Coralee apart and broke both their hearts. Wounded and wary, Coralee spurns Houston's attempts to rekindle their romance but he's not a man easily deterred.  A sweet romance that's sure to satisfy.

For Love or Money by Susan Page Davis : Crockett is a serious contender for cowboy hero of the month. He's a man of action so it's no surprise that when Jane's family home is burnt to the ground, Crockett is the man who orchestrates the rebuilding effort. And much to this reader's delight he ends up falling for his tenacious cowgirl neighbour in the process.

Mail-Order Mayhem by Vickie McDonough : I do so love a good mail-order bride story and this one definitely fits the bill -- with a unique twist that kept me grinning. And wincing. Poor Austin's clever plans to meet his father's inheritance requirements go awry when two ladies step off the stagecoach in Hartville. One is his intended, the other her chaperoning sister. Doesn't sound complicated, right? Wrong! Things get all twisty turny before they even out and I loved every minute of it.

Love at Last by Erica Vetsch : Bowie caught my attention in the prologue and I couldn't wait to get to his story. Disfigured in the war, Bowie has become somewhat of a recluse, working on the ranch and avoiding town and people in general.  Finding a wife within the year time limit set by his father seems like an impossible task...until he latches onto the idea of contracting a marriage of convenience with his former nurse. What follows is a heart-tugging story of accepting one's worth and the power of love.

My thanks to author Lorna Seilstad for providing me with a copy of this book.

Collision of the Heart

GIVEAWAY

EAKES, LAURIE ALICE
COLLISION OF THE HEART

Mia Roper isn’t a typical nineteenth-century woman. Refusing to pass up the hard-won opportunity to prove herself as a journalist, she left Hillsdale, Michigan, hoping in vain that Ayden Goswell would follow her to Boston.

When the train bringing her back for her first major story crashes in a snowstorm outside town, Mia is stranded. Not even the survival of a fellow passenger, a toddler, can ease her heart’s sudden ache at seeing Ayden, now a history professor at the local college, courting someone else.

Ayden’s never gotten over the fact that the most fascinating woman he ever met chose her career over marriage…and he let her go. But marrying the department director’s daughter could at least guarantee him a permanent job. It’s a satisfactory arrangement, yet his kind, pretty bride-to-be has one simple flaw: she’s not Mia.

As soon as the trains are running, Mia will be leaving again, unless she and Ayden can reconcile ambition and love—and take a leap of faith together.

My Review:

I never wanted to knock two heads together more in my life. LOL Don't you just love frustrating characters? Mia and Ayden are at polar opposite ends of a critical issue and neither will budge. And the thing is, I totally got both sides and I didn't know what the right outcome should be. But it sure was fun watching them butt heads while secretly yearning to rekindle their romance. Love the tension -- the sense of desperation as they both struggle to merge the past and the present. Delicious, page-turning frenzy kind of stuff. And some of the best barbed comments between the covers of a book! Add in an intriguing mystery and a spark of danger and you get an incredibly captivating read.

Please note: This book was originally published as The Professor's Heart by Heartsong Presents -- a book club selection of Barbour Publishing. Since it wasn't available to the general public, the author has republished it as Collision of the Heart which is the perfect descriptor for this story.

GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY:

Visible Threat

GIVEAWAY

CANTORE, JANICE
VISIBLE THREAT

Officer Brinna Caruso wants perfection -- perfect justice and a perfect world. She wants to save and protect all the innocents in the world, no matter the cost.

Orphaned and struggling to get by, Ivana and her sister left Bulgaria for America with dreams of a better life. But since they arrived in Long Beach, everything they were promised has turned out to be a lie.

After a dead girl is found in the river with a mysterious tattoo on her hip, homicide detective Jack O'Reilly asks for Brinna's help. Unaware of the depths of evil that will be uncovered, Brinna finds herself flung into a dangerous frontier -- an organized human trafficking ring.

My Review:

Heart-in-throat suspense takes readers on a roller coaster ride of a read. The author's 22 year police service is evident in the police procedures, dialogue between officers and all the little details in between. It really makes for an edgier read.

This is the second book in the series, and though it reads really well as a standalone, Brinna and Jack's relationship has slowly been building since book one. And slow is the operative word as the full development of their relationship won't be achieved until the final installment. In Critical Pursuit, they were just getting to know each other. Both come with personal baggage and they are struggling to find balance in their lives. The attraction amps up in Visible Threat -- along with the wariness and insecurities that come with a fledgling romance.

And then there's the grisly crimes and desperate search for missing women. Fascinating plot line that exposes the ugly reality of human trafficking. But as grim as things get, Cantore expertly weaves a solid inspirational thread that brings hope and redemption.

A great combination of suspense, romance and faith.
